TEACHING

I have always been passionate about the research I do and the scientific theories that underlie even my most applied projects. I believe that teaching allows me to share this passion with others while also sharing my knowledge and experiences with researchers who will eventually become my peers.

Across nine different semesters, I have been a lab instructor for both undergraduate and master's-level courses. I successfully completed the School of Psychology’s Teaching Practicum, and obtained an intermediate-level certificate in the Tech to Teaching Pathway to Higher Education program offered through the Georgia Tech Center for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. I have also received a ‘Thank a Teacher Award’ when nominated by one of my students.

HCI Research Methods Lab

As the lab instructor for the Human Computer Interaction Research Methods course required as part of the HCI master’s degree curriculum, I create an active learning environment for students to get hands on experience in the variety of research and data collection methods that master's students need to know as they become UX and HCI professionals. Some of the skills I teach are: conducting interviews, focus groups, contextual inquiry, questionnaire design, performance based & physiological measures, participatory design, and usability testing.

Sensation and Perception Lab

The S&P lab is a supplemental active learning section required for all

undergraduate psychology students who take the Sensation & Perception course. Throughout my time teaching this lab, we have implemented active learning techniques so that students can directly experience the methodologies used in psychophysics and perception-based research while getting an abridged, but hands-on, experience performing data collection.
